General
What is 3D scanning and why do I need it?
3D scanning captures the precise dimensions and visual details of physical spaces or objects, creating accurate digital models. It's essential for renovation planning, virtual tours, as-built documentation, facility management, and countless other applications where accurate spatial data drives better decisions.
What areas do you serve?
We provide nationwide coverage across all 50 states and select international locations. Our headquarters is in Miami, FL, with operational hubs in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and other major cities. We can deploy teams anywhere in the US within 24-48 hours.
How quickly can you start a project?
For standard projects, we can typically schedule within 1-2 weeks. For urgent needs, we offer expedited service and can often deploy within 24-48 hours. Emergency same-day service is available in select markets.
Do you offer free consultations?
Yes! We offer free consultations to discuss your project needs and provide recommendations. We'll also provide a detailed quote within 1 hour of our conversation.
Services
What's the difference between a virtual tour and a 3D scan?
A virtual tour (like Matterport) creates an immersive, walkthrough experience optimized for viewing—great for marketing and remote exploration. A 3D laser scan produces survey-grade point cloud data with millimeter accuracy—essential for construction, architecture, and engineering applications. We often combine both for comprehensive documentation.
What is Scan-to-BIM?
Scan-to-BIM is the process of converting 3D laser scan data into intelligent Building Information Models (BIM), typically in Autodesk Revit. This creates parametric, editable models that architects and engineers can use for renovation planning, clash detection, and design development.
Can you scan outdoor areas?
Absolutely. We use drone photogrammetry and aerial LiDAR for outdoor areas including building exteriors, construction sites, campuses, and large land areas. Our DJI M400 RTK with Zenmuse L3 provides survey-grade aerial scanning.
What size projects can you handle?
We handle projects of all sizes—from a 500 sqft apartment to 2 million+ sqft industrial facilities. Our mobile scanning systems like the NavVis VLX can capture up to 300,000 sqft per day, making large-scale projects efficient and cost-effective.
Process
What happens during a scan session?
Our technician arrives with the appropriate equipment, reviews the scope, and begins systematic capture. For virtual tours, this involves photographing from multiple positions. For laser scanning, we set up the scanner at various stations throughout the space. Most scans are non-invasive and can occur during normal business hours.
How long does scanning take?
Timing varies by project scope. A typical residential property takes 1-2 hours for a virtual tour. Commercial spaces average 5,000-10,000 sqft per day with laser scanning. Large facilities with mobile scanning can capture 50,000+ sqft per day. We'll provide a specific timeline with your quote.
How long until I receive my deliverables?
Virtual tours are typically ready within 2-3 business days. Point cloud data is delivered within 1 week. Scan-to-BIM models take 2-4 weeks depending on complexity and level of detail required. Rush processing is available for time-sensitive projects.
Do you need anything from me before the scan?
Minimal preparation is needed. We ask that the space be in its normal state (lights on, clutter minimal). For occupied spaces, we coordinate timing to minimize disruption. We'll send a pre-scan checklist with your confirmation.
Deliverables
What file formats do you deliver?
We deliver in multiple formats based on your needs: Point clouds (E57, LAS, RCP), BIM models (RVT, IFC, DWG), virtual tours (Matterport links, standalone viewers), and standard formats (PDF, JPG, OBJ). Just let us know your preferred workflow.
How accurate is your scanning?
Accuracy depends on the equipment and technique used. Our Leica laser scanners achieve ±2-4mm accuracy. Survey-grade projects with control can reach ±1mm. Virtual tours capture dimensions within 1% of actual. We match equipment to your accuracy requirements.
How do I access my virtual tour?
Virtual tours are hosted on cloud platforms (Matterport, etc.) and accessed via web link. You can embed tours on your website, share links directly, or download for offline viewing. We provide training on how to use and share your tours effectively.
Who owns the deliverables?
You do. Upon full payment, all deliverables (scans, models, tours) are your property to use as you wish. We retain a license for portfolio use only, which can be waived upon request for confidential projects.
Pricing
How much does 3D scanning cost?
Pricing varies by project scope, service type, and location. Virtual tours typically start around $200-500 for residential properties. Commercial laser scanning starts around $0.03-0.08 per sqft. We provide detailed, transparent quotes with no hidden fees.
Do you offer volume discounts?
Yes, we offer discounts for multi-property portfolios, ongoing contracts, and repeat clients. Contact us to discuss your specific needs and we'll create a custom pricing package.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, ACH transfers, and checks. For larger projects, we typically require 50% deposit to schedule, with balance due upon delivery. Net-30 terms are available for established clients.
Are there any hidden fees?
Never. Your quote includes all costs: equipment, personnel, travel, processing, and delivery. The only additional charges would be for scope changes you request after the project begins.
Technical
What equipment do you use?
We use enterprise-grade equipment including Trimble X12, NavVis VLX3, Matterport Pro3, Leica BLK360 G2, Leica RTC360, and DJI M400 RTK with Zenmuse L3. Our professional equipment inventory ensures we have the right tool for every project.
Can you scan reflective or dark surfaces?
Reflective and dark surfaces can be challenging but we have techniques to handle them. This may include using scanning spray, adjusting scanner settings, or employing photogrammetry. We assess surfaces during site evaluation and plan accordingly.
Do you need internet access on-site?
No internet is required during scanning. All data is captured locally and processed at our facilities. For real-time streaming or immediate cloud upload, we can use mobile hotspots if needed.
What happens if something goes wrong?
We carry comprehensive liability insurance and errors & omissions coverage. If any issues arise with deliverables, we'll rescan at no charge. Our quality control process catches most issues before delivery, but your satisfaction is guaranteed.
